Bullyism is a real issue, not just an attention-seeking oxymoron. It's an unnatural attempt by the incompetent to dominate or suppress others through inappropriate means. The bully's claim to fame often rests from physical strength, positional high connections, or mindless power lacking wisdom or maturity. This leads naturally to a deficit in social recognition of the bully.
This deficit drives bullies to seek replaced acknowledgment through force, resulting in various types of bullyism, including physical, verbal, cyber, relational, organizational, racial, political, religious, social, sexual, gender, and age-related bullying.
Tackling a bully requires a united front:
- Create a group to confront
the bully
- Expose their tactics
- Confront them directly
- Ignore them to increase
their insecurity
- Report their behavior to
higher-ups
- Socially ostracize and
exclude them from social
circles.
Bullyism has to be tackled. A safe, inclusive and happy work environment needs to be provided to all.
