Uncertainty, coupled by anxiety over not being able to control the future is posing to be the nemesis of a lot of people.

Anxiety is a pervasive emotional experience that often arises from uncertainty, and one of its most common sources is the fear of the unknown. However, the deeper silent killer is inability in that state of uncertainty to control the future, particularly so in an era marked by rapid changes and unpredictability.

This existential dread manifests itself in various ways, impacting mental health, decision-making, and overall quality of life.

At its core, anxiety about the future is rooted in our natural desire for control and deep need for predictability. Humans are inherently wired to seek stability; we thrive on 'to do' lists, routines and the assurance through grueling reviews that our plans will unfold as anticipated. When faced with uncertainty—be it in personal life, career prospects, or global events—this foundational need becomes threatened. The unpredictability of the future can trigger a cascade of worries: What if I lose my job? What if my batch-mate moves in career faster than me ? What if my relationships falter? What if dominant stress fails health ? Such questions can dominate our thoughts, leading to a paralyzing cycle of overthinking that detracts from our ability to live in the present and makes it miserable.

The new world Societal & cultural shifts play a pivotal role in shaping our anxieties. In contemporary society, the pressure to succeed, often measured through tangible milestones—such as career advancement, social media brand perception, financial stability, possession of symbolic luxary assets can all exacerbate feelings of inadequacy & uncertainty.

Young adults, in particular, face a unique set of challenges as they navigate educational paths, job markets & social expectations. The fear of not measuring up or the feeling of being left out from the comparative race can all lead to a heightened sense of anxiety regarding the future. If not by anxiety, individuals kill themselves by overworking beyond capacity exerting unhealthy stress on their minds and bodies.

However, while the anxiety over not knowing the future can feel overwhelming, there are strategies to mitigate its impact. Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, seeking out life coaching support, developing hobbies et cetra can all help ground individuals in the present moment, reducing the urge to ruminate on future uncertainties.

Cognitive-behavioral approaches encourage reframing negative thought patterns, enabling individuals to view uncertainty as a natural part of life rather than a threat. Additionally, fostering a support network of friends, family, or mental health professionals can provide reassurance and perspective, reminding individuals that they are not alone in their fears.

Newer stresses have newer and stronger solutions to fall back on. Taking ones life is not acceptable .
